Farm Life

Like all farms some days are busier than others. Most days are not necessarily eventful but there is usually something going on always. Karen and I recently taught an Introduction to Natural Dyeing at our local Extension Office. It was very informal with lots of discussion about dyeing. Hopefully some in attendance were motivated to…

Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival and other Ky Fiber events 2023

We are very excited about Spring!   Lambs will be arriving and the start of a new fiber show season. Our first event will be a new show in Pleasureville, Ky in April.   It will be held at Sweet Home Spun.  A restored 1824 Low Dutch Meeting house.    There will be a variety of vendors…

Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival 2023

Shearing began the first of March.   All ewes were sheared first.    Shearing is a good time for us to check the health and condition of the sheep.   We trim the hooves, vaccinate and treat for parasites as needed.   All the fleeces are skirted, bagged and weighed.   Phillip shears our sheep on a stand.   It…

Lambs!

We have put our breeding groups together for 2023 and looking forward to lambs starting in March.     2023 will be the “H” year.   All lambs names will start with the letter H.
